Ingredients
- 3 avocados – peeled, pitted, and mashed
- 1 lime, juiced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 3 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
- 2 roma (plum) tomatoes, diced
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 pinch ground cayenne pepper (optional)
Directions
- Slice the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a medium bowl.
- Add the lime juice and salt to the avocados. Mash with a fork until you reach your desired consistency (chunky or smooth).
- Stir in the diced onion, chopped cilantro, diced tomatoes, and minced garlic.
- Sprinkle with cayenne pepper if using.
- Serve immediately with tortilla chips, or cover tightly with plastic wrap pressed directly onto the surface of the guacamole and refrigerate for 1 hour to let flavors meld.
Optional Tips / Variations
- Storage Hack: To keep the guacamole from turning brown, press plastic wrap directly against the surface of the dip to eliminate air exposure before storing in the fridge.
- Spicy Kick: For a spicier dip, add 1 finely chopped jalapeño or serrano pepper (seeds removed for less heat, retained for more).
- Fruit Twist: Stir in 1/2 cup of diced mango or pomegranate seeds for a sweet and savory variation.
