Classic White Russian
This decadent after-dinner cocktail combines the rich flavor of coffee liqueur with vodka and a luxurious splash of heavy cream. Famous for being the drink of choice for “The Dude” in The Big Lebowski, it is incredibly easy to make and serves as a delicious dessert in a glass.
Prep Time: 5 minutes Total Time: 5 minutes Servings: 1
Ingredients
- 2 fluid ounces vodka
- 1 fluid ounce coffee liqueur (such as Kahlúa)
- 1 fluid ounce heavy cream or half-and-half
- 1 cup ice cubes
Directions
- Fill a rocks glass (or Old Fashioned glass) completely with ice cubes.
- Pour the vodka and coffee liqueur over the ice.
- Pour the heavy cream carefully over the back of a spoon into the glass so it floats on top of the liquor.
- Serve unmixed for a layered look, or stir gently to combine for a creamy, uniform color.
Optional Tips / Variations
- The “Blind Russian”: Substitute Baileys Irish Cream for the heavy cream to create an even richer, sweeter cocktail.
- Georgia Bulldog: Add a splash of cola to the finished drink for a fizzy, soda-fountain twist.
- Skinny: If heavy cream is too rich, you can substitute whole milk or half-and-half, though the texture will be less velvety.
